A contemporary home in Miami for a Brazilian couple with two children. This was the challenge faced by interior designer Bianca Notari for this project in Coconut Grove, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Miami, Florida.

“With 330m² of built area spread over two floors, with the family bedrooms on the second floor, the house, built in 2019, already featured a contemporary style, exposed concrete in some construction elements, and high ceilings. However, the residents were looking to add a touch of style to the property. The client is a fashion designer, super in-the-know, and loves decorating, so she wanted to transform the home into a space with charm and personality.”

And with many desires in mind, the residents helped the designer conceive the renovation project.

“One of the clients’ main requests was an imposing and functional entrance hall, with a coat rack and shoe rack. To achieve this, I created a teak wood panel to the right of the main entrance, with a built-in shoe rack. To create a sense of continuity, the same material covers the wall between this hallway and the kitchen, this time with a slatted finish, complete with an elegant, fragmented round mirror.”

In addition, some pieces from the residents’ collection were used in the decor.

“I always like to preserve items that are important to clients. In this case, I kept the sofas from RH, a tea cart that became a side table, and a sideboard and mirror from Artefacto, as well as a super cool Moooi lamp. To complement the décor, several works of art and a selection of Brazilian-designed furniture add a touch of personality to the home, especially in the family room, where the residents spend most of their time together. The result is a spacious, light, and timeless home that could be anywhere in the world: Brazil, Miami, or even Switzerland.
